A 15-member American Multi Ethnic Coalition (AMEC-USA) delegation led by President of AMEC-USA, Dr. Vijay Prabhakar took part in the election night watch gatherings for Illinois Congressmen Danny Davis and Jonathan Jackson on March 19, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois. Many members of the Indian American community have been long-time supporters of Rep. Davis.

Both Congressmen Davis of Illinois’ 7th Congressional District, and Jackson of Illinois’ 1st Congressional District won their primary elections.

Dr. Prabhakar said, “Congressman Davis’s inclusive leadership for all prevailed in spite of all the charlatans attempts to wrest the seat from a proven statesman,” adding with this win Davis “would secure serving in the U.S. Congress for 30 years.”

Dr. Prabhakar thanked “all the leaders of different ethnic communities for their continuous support, time, and contributions to the reelection campaigns.”

They included Dr. Zenobia Sowell, governor of AMEC, Dr. Gwen Appleberry, registrar, Global Eye International Institute For Leadership, Naveen Chandra, AMEC executive director, Amar Uphadhyay, MEATF councilman, Acharya Rohit Joshi, Syed Mukkaram, Anwar Sadat, and Robert York, AMEC Commissioners, Carter York, AMEC students secretary, Dr. Chezalyn Grant, chief community officer, Global Eye Magazine, Nightingale of Chicago, Payel Roy Ganguly, her husband Abhishek Ganguly, and her daughter Anaisha Ganguly.
